We've put together two days of relaxation and fun perfectly balanced. Check out the itinerary, grab some friends and get ready for an unforgettable girls weekend!
Before you arrive
Choose the perfect place to stay. New Braunfels has you covered with boutique hotels like Sophie's Gasthaus, Prince Solms Inn, Gruene River Hotel & Retreat, Gruene Mansion Inn, and the 8Sages Dolly Cottage - each as unique as that one friend in the group. Prefer a hotel where you can use or earn points? Check out the Courtyard by Marriott or one of our other hotel brands.
Day 1: Discover Downtown
For breakfast, take your pick from Krause's Cafe, The Mess Around at Crosswalk, Le Citron, or New Braunfels Coffee. All are local favorites and feature plenty of variety for your group.
On Saturdays, visit the New Braunfels Farmers Market. Here over 60 vendors offer locally-produced food, home and personal care items, pet supplies and more. There's plenty more shopping in downtown from boutiques to antiques and home decor.
For lunch McAdoo's Seafood Co. & Oyster Bar serves up Texas creole favorites located in the historic post office which offers up fun and unique vibe. Huisache Grill's lunches are about as famous as it's beautiful historic setting. Be sure to check out the shops in the courtyard there too! Want to try something different? Check out Alpine Haus for authentic German cuisine.
Spend the afternoon in galleries. Lark Mason & Associates, Mill Street Art Gallery, New Braunfels Art League Gallery, and the Historic Outdoor Art Museum. Be sure to check out the unique boutiques and treat yourself as you stroll downtown.
Before dinner grab a drink at Sidecar and enjoy the dimly-lit underground sanctuary. For dinner Myron's Prime Steakhouse offers fine dining and a great wine list. If you want to test your server ask them what the building used to be. Cody's Restaurant offers and elevated culinary experience and hand crafted cocktails. For a more casual experience, check out Muck & Fuss. All their gourmet burgers are spectacular and you can even get them on a salad. Want to explore more? Check out other great dining options.
Now it's time to have some fun! The Brauntex Theatre offers shows ranging from music to comedy to ballet. Just about every bar and restaurant downtown has live music most nights. See who's playing at Krause's and Phoenix Saloon. You can even go bowling at Downtown Social. End your day with a drink by a fire pit at Pour Haus or on the rooftop at Lost + Found.
Day 2: Explore Gruene
First of all, sleep in. Y'all are going to want to be rested up for the fun!
Plan for brunch at The Birdhouse. The entire menu is outstanding and yes, they serve mimosas.
Check to see if it's an Old Gruene Market Days weekend. If so you're in for a treat with shopping from over 100 artisans purveying their own handmade items. If not there's plenty more shopping to be done at stores like The Pomegranate, Gruene Antique Company, Gruene Outfitters, The Best Lil' Bath Haus and more!
For lunch, get a table with a view of the Guadalupe River at Gristmill or Gruene River Grill. You can't go wrong either way. After lunch, grab some merch and souvenirs from Cotton Eyed Joe's and then go next door to Gruene General Store for some unique shopping and ice cream or fudge.
There's always live music playing somewhere in Gruene, so spend the afternoon relaxing with a drink and enjoying some Americana music at The Grapevine, Gruene Grove or The Villa.
You'll love The Gruene Door or Mozie's for dinner depending on what you're in the mood for. The Gruene Door's chef-driven menu is as inviting as it's ambiance. Mozie's is surrounded by original brick walls, has the longest bar in town and is just as cool. Both restaurants known for signature drinks.
Right in the middle of Gruene is the longest continually operating dancehall in Texas - Gruene Hall. Check out who's playing, take a selfie out front, then grab a longneck or wine and enjoy an evening of music from one of your favorite artists.
Girls Weekend Extras
If you and your friends enjoy being active, try a class from Laurel Grace Yoga or hike Panther Canyon Trail in Landa Park. New Braunfels also features plenty of options for massages or other spa experiences at The Retreat, Newman & Co. or Gruene Day Spa.
